Finally getting round to uploading the pictures from the Perth show, the 1st batch shows visiting locomotive 37413 on a rail tour through Poulton Station.
Based on the station which serves the market town of Poulton-le-Fylde, located on the Fylde coast, this new exhibition layout aims to provide both modelling ability as well as operational interest. Situated on the busy Blackpool North to Preston line, the station managed by Northern Rail, sees regular services from Manchester Piccadilly, York and Liverpool Lime street.

Best in Show
I was delighted to be awarded the "Best in Show" by public vote shield for Poulton-le-Fylde at the recent Perth exhibition. I would also like to say congratulations to the other award winners.

The roadworks are well underway on "Breck Road" bridge and now feature additional detailing such as traffic cones, hi-vis tape and weathering. Here are a few pictures:

A Step Back In Time
A step back in time today as I decided to give Regional Railways class
150 a run on the layout. I was surprised how well it seems to fit the
layout aesthetically, maybe a 1990's running session is required at some
point. Here are a few pictures:
Details Details Details...
Some additional track details have been added to enhance the realism and interest of the junction. The following picture shows old sleeper and crossing 'v' details:

"Coping" with it
Long overdue, the coping stones have been completed on "Breck Road" bridge and also on the ramp down to the car park behind the station platform. The "Coping Stones" are made from plastic strip scribed at regular intervals to define the individual stones. These were then painted.

Scenic Improvements
The to-do list eventually seems to be shrinking as a few items have made it from the workbench to the layout:
A new retaining wall has been added at the rear of the layout to take vehicles from Breck Road down to the station car parks. (Capping stones still need to be added).
The station steps are now in their final position allowing the lights to be attached and wired in (plus a few tubs of flowers for good measure).
The signal access platform appears to have a new resident, can you spot the squirrel?
- The market scene was completed with the addition of (more) flowers coupled with a pair of stall traders keen to sell their produce.
- A common sight on UK roads these days. The roadworks were going well until this builder managed to burst the cement bag, the gaffer wont be happy.(Traffic cones will be added soon).

Saturday Market
Over the last few weeks a lot of menial tasks have been
carried out on the layout, the sort that need doing but you would never notice
that they have been done. I have however managed to get around to making the
market stalls for the bridge. A picture is provided below:

Lighting the Station
With
the Perth show looming it was time to turn my attention back to
completing the scenics on the layout instead of running trains. Next on
the still long, but reducing, to do list was lighting on the station
platform.
SMD Led lights were purchased from Kytes Lights at Model Rail Scotland and have been painted up to reflect the lights installed at Poulton. Hanging baskets and brackets have also been made up to continue the strong horticultural displays in the station.
Hope you enjoy :)
